In anticipation of the impending start of Operation Marhaba 2024 on June 15, 2024, the Moroccan government has taken a series of measures to ensure a perfect organization of the edition.
In a speech on the subject in parliament, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Operation Marhaba will be exceptional on more than one level. He added that the main measures were taken in coordination with other concerned services and departments.
The measures concern in particular an improvement in the quality of consular services for the follow-up of the transit operation, coordination with countries of origin, mobilization to receive the Moroccan diaspora, the opening of mobile consulates in the ports of Sète, Genoa and Algeciras and the strengthening of the human capital of the consular services in the host countries, especially in Spain, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands, the ministry emphasized.
In addition, up to 32 ferries are deployed on all maritime lines connecting Moroccan ports with Spanish, French and Italian destinations. The ships will have a capacity of approximately 480,000 passengers and 123,000 cars on a program of 571 weekly voyages, it is said.
As for air transport, the ministry said the number of flights has been increased, strengthening existing offers on the one hand and opening new routes on the other to meet demand in certain destinations. Regarding land transport, the ministry said that new companies have been authorized to ensure the transport of Moroccans from all over the world to Europe and a special guide has also been prepared.
As for security, the executive has mobilized all possible resources to ensure the smooth conduct of the operation. And regarding the health aspect, a flexible health protocol has been introduced, which means that you must either present a vaccination pass or a negative PCR test taken in the 72 hours prior to travel. A doctor and an isolation room will also be deployed on the various ships reserved for Operation Marhaba.
